Welcome and thank you for being here! I’m Sam, a self-taught painter and fine artist, specializing in oils and water-based media. I was born in Quezon City, Philippines, and am currently based in Upland, California, with my husband, Jamil, and my spoiled cat Felonious Monk 🐈.
The Creative Journey
As a person of many interests, I have always felt like a jack of all trades and a master of none. I was bursting at the seams, filled with dreams and aspirations, not knowing how to appease all parts of my multi-faceted self.
From singing and doing musical theater professionally at a very young age, to studying graphic design, music and communications throughout college, I was completely overwhelmed with so many interests and passions.
After a long and winding road full of highs, lows, challenges, and persistence, I have come to realize that amongst all my interests, one held strong above the rest - THE NEED TO PAINT AND MAKE ART. 👩🏻🎨🎨
The Courage to ADMIT I AM AN ARTIST!
In 2020, following the death of my father Ernesto, and my second mom, Auntie Gloria, I gathered the courage to finally admit to myself that yes, I AM AN ARTIST.
This prompted a journey of healing and self-discovery paved by completing “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. (Full Video on my old YouTube Channel)
